HNWIs who would like to establish their residence in Luxembourg are subject to the Luxembourg law on freedom of movement of persons and immigration (Coordinated law of 29 august 2008), and especially to the Sub-section 7 (78 and 79).
If the law regulates the immigration procedure for persons originating from third countries (i.e. countries from outside the European Economic Area and Switzerland) in general, the Sub-section 7 particularly deals with HNWI who want to establish their permanent residence in Luxembourg -technically, the law refers to residence permits for “private reasons”.
